BRC Global Food Safety Standard - Maintenance of the Standard

Once the standard has been achieved, the system must be maintained to ensure that subsequent certificated inspections are successful. The BRC standard specifies that certain activities take place in between the annual inspections including:

Reviews & verification of the haccp system

Internal audits of the BRC system

Management reviews.

These requirements can be difficult for smaller businesses as the expertise may not be in the business (e.g. a suitably trained independent auditor) or time may be a factor.

BRC certificated companies may also need access to specific technical support as and when required e.g. to answer technical queries from customers, the completion of product specifications or technical liaison with suppliers.
